If I shower immediately after tanning and and using tanning lotion will it still work?

I put on tanning lotion before tanning, and sometimes it makes my skin break out so I wanted to wash it off as soon as possible so I wouldn’t get bad acne. Will my tan still show up? Would it be better to just tan without the lotion? Which would be more effective?

There could be something in the lotion that makes you break out. Try one that is fragrant free and paraben free. There are also some brands that make tanning lotion for the face. If you choose not use lotion, you should use a salon grade moisturizer after tanning. The over the counter ones may contain ingredients that block the sun. These will prevent you from tanning. The majority of people I know do not use anything on their face. Some prefer to cover their face with a towel. If you use a bronzer on your body you need to leave it on for a couple of hours before showering. Don’t forget to use a salon grade moisturizer.

My guess is your allergic or sensitive to something in the lotion. Try a different brand and pay attention to the ingredients making sure none or most are not the same.

The second you step out of the sun is the second that you stop adding to your tan. It will develop over the next few hours no matter what you do with one exception that I know of. Aloe Vera seems to stop tan or burn from developing once applied.

Like already advised i would try using different lotions and see which one works the best for you. You might just have really sensitive skin. If you use a bronzer lotion sadly some of your tan will come off of your skin if you don’t wait a few hours for the lotion to set into your skin. But not all of it will. A tan is damage to your skin cells, you cant wash off damage.

Not as well, you should wait at least 2 hours before you shower

Your still gonna get a tan, but you may peel quicker. Since your not letting your skin take advantage of all the nutrients in the lotion ya know.
Also showering and scrubbing quickly after could lead to worse acne.
